Summary:
A position as a Job Coach entails supporting people with disabilities to learn, to accommodate, and perform their work duties in their place of employment. A Job Coach may work with individuals one-on-one and/or in a small group setting. A Job Coach also helps individuals develop interpersonal skills necessary in the workplace. The Job Coach will assess the individual's strengths and needs or may rely on a completed assessment. A Job Coach may visit the place of employment to understand the requirements of the job and work environment. This position will work with an individual both in and outside of the workplace, as it is important to assist and prepare the individual for the workplace in advance.
Qualifications
• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) along with 1-year prior experience working with children or adults with an intellectual or developmental disability, including training in home / community based and / or vocational settings is required. Previous work experience in industry or rehabilitation is preferred i.e. any type of business including office work, manufacturing, restaurant work, grocery store work, etc.
• Work experience may be volunteer work or internships
• Must successfully complete and maintain all state and federal employment certifications such as the mandated Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) or Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) within the first 6 months of employment
