GROUP FACILITATOR/ ACTIVITIES SUPERVISOR

Each group requires a group facilitator with a master’s degree in special education, social work, psychology or a related field (preferred), experience working with groups and with people with developmental disabilities.  The Facilitator/ Activities Supervisor is responsible for:

  • Curriculum development and planning for weekly discussion groups in coordination with the Executive Director
  • Assuring the safety and well being of members of the group at the discussion groups and at activities
  • Supervision and management of group activities
  • Attendance at all staff meetings

 

  • Providing appropriate group management which allows and encourages all people to

               participate in group discussions

 

  • Positive reinforcement to group members that demonstrate appropriate behavior

 

  • Supporting of all group members and assisting them on achieving their personal goals set in conjunction with the member and the Facilitator

 

  • Helping group members appreciate and understand the differences in people

 

  • Observing group members and encouraging members with additional needs to

               utilize appropriate resources

 

  • As assigned by the Program Assistant or Executive Director, the Facilitator/ Activities Supervisor will go on specific trips with another Facilitator and supervise the members on the trip.

 

Position also includes supervision of Assistant Group Facilitator/Interns by:

  • Preparing/training the assistant in the group curriculum

 

  • Providing direction for his/her role in group interactions and supervision

 

  • Providing feedback about his/her performance, group interactions, leadership and

               individual interactions
