Qualified persons are invited to apply to the Borough of Castle Shannon to take competitive examinations leading to eligibility for appointment as a Full-Time Police Officer with the Castle Shannon Police Department.
General Requirements:
Candidates, at the time of application must: (1) Possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma (GED); (2) Must be Act 120 Certified, or enrolled in Act 120 training and must pass the final exam before the date of hire. (3) Be a United States Citizen; (4) Be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police officer; (5) Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age; and (6) Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The starting salary for the position is $70,368 for an 84hr pay period and is accompanied by a generous benefit package.
Tattoo Restrictions (must be covered) – no tattoos on neck or facial area. No visible piercings or ear plugs are permitted.
In addition, successful applicants must also meet all the requirements of the Borough’s Hiring Policy that includes a background investigation, and if selected, be required to successfully pass physical and psychological examinations.

The physical agility test will be conducted at the Allegheny County Police Academy, located at 700 West Ridge Drive (North Park), Allison Park, PA 15101 on a date to be determined. The written exam will be conducted at the same location immediately following the physical agility test. Photo ID is required for both tests.
