Job Summary:

The Marketing and Development Assistant supports the implementation of marketing and communications initiatives and supports the ongoing development and annual fundraising campaigns of the agency.  The position serves as the principal support staff for the Senior Director, Corporate Development & Annual Fund.

Job Responsibilities:

Marketing & Communications

  • Undertake daily administrative tasks to ensure the functionality and coordination of the department’s activities
  • Support marketing and other executives in organizing various projects
  • Update spreadsheets, and databases with statistical, financial, and non-financial information
  • Assist in the organizing of promotional events and traditional or digital campaigns and attend events to support other departments and facilitate their success
  • Assist with writing marketing literature (brochures, press releases, etc.) to augment Life’s Work’s presence in the market
  • Provide primary writing support for all marketing communications, and sales materials used to promote the services and programs of the agency;
  • Support the maintenance of the agency’s website – ensuring the accuracy currency and relevancy of the platform;
  • Support event marketing and serve as primary staff for events;
  • Support media and public relations efforts including drafting press releases and coordinating media coverage of agency events and programs;
  • Develop and maintain a detailed annual calendar of marketing, communications, volunteer calendar, and development actions;

Corporate Development and Annual Fund

  • Provide communications/writing support for grants/proposals and development/fundraising efforts;
  • Support donor stewardship activities of the Sr. Director of Corporate Development (i.e., meetings, events, follow-up cultivation efforts, etc.);
  • Research appropriate funding/grant opportunities;
  • Maintain marketing and donor database; (Virtuous)
  • Update Social Media Platforms, Websites, and blogs;
  • Manage to track of all proposals/grants/foundation activity in the donor database and assign tasks;
  • Create and support the development and implementation of a volunteer program

Education & Experience:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • At least one-year experience in an administrative support capacity, preferred
  • Patch / PA Child Abuse / FBI Fingerprint Clearances are required within 30 days of employment and this is all paid by Life’sWork of Western PA

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office, marketing software programs, and online applications (CRM tools, Online analytics, Google AdWords, Google Analytics, Canva, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-organized with a customer-oriented approach
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrable ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines
  • Working knowledge of social media - Demonstrated creativity and documented facility deploying social media
  • Excellent in sourcing and managing content development and publishing
  • Excellent writing and language skills
  • A team player with the confidence to take the lead
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficient technical understanding and can pick up on new systems easily
