You will be an essential part of the Wisteria leadership team, reporting to the Director of the Wisteria Associate Community, the Manager of the Pub and collaborating intensely with the Manager of the Market.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead by example. At Nemacolin this means always following the policies and procedures, acting in respectful, inclusive ways at all times, and taking a sense of ownership for all aspects of the operation.
  • Hire qualified, mission driven team members.
  • Set specific, measurable expectations.
  • Give specific, measurable, timely feedback-both reinforcing and corrective.
  • Develop staff through ongoing training and support.
  • Model and foster open communication by ensuring team members have information, input, and influence.
  • Schedule staff in a way that balances the organizational (guest) needs and the associate’s individual needs.
  • Care for the guests, staff, and self safely and appropriately.
  • Collaborate and help out team members at levels.
  • Oversee all aspects of the culinary operation for the Pub and Grab & Go Market menus through team management, menu development, purchasing, receiving, storage, inventory, equipment maintenance, preparation, and presentation of food items.
  • Execute the details of service with precision and heart.
  • Keep everyone safe through the highest compliance with all food safety and sanitation procedures and regulations as well as immediately correcting or reporting any disrespectful actions, safety hazards, or unsafe practices.
  • Ensure guests are receiving a consistently high-quality, timely product.
  • Maintain our kitchen equipment: ensure daily cleaning and sanitation occurs and regular preventive maintenance is scheduled and executed.  Report issues immediately.
  • Assess efficiency and effectiveness and work to improve both.
  • Learn from our mistakes.
  • Evolve the menu to reflect guest preferences and requests.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ATTRIBUTES:

  • Degree from post-secondary culinary arts training program.
  • A minimum of five years in a food preparation position.
  • Training in the specialization.
  • Must be able to speak English.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, etc.
  • Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to kitchen associates, dining room staff, and guests.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • A respectful, inclusive people-centered, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Knowledge of menu creation, culinary production, and food cost controls.
  • Manager Serv Safe Certification, or the ability to get it within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to work all stations on the line.
  • Above average knife skills, as well as proficiency in a variety of cooking techniques.
  • Ability to work in a team and share responsibilities and duties.
  • Ability to work with grace under pressure.
  • Ability to be a friendly, empathic, and adept communicator.
  • Ability to resolve interpersonal conflict in a straightforward and timely manner.
  • Ability to gracefully accept and respond to feedback.
  • Ability to set priorities, be organized, and be a self-starter.
  • Ability to navigate technology efficiently.
  • Ability to be flexible regarding work schedule. While we strive to ensure our team members have work-life balance, a minimum of 2 days of a week, and a regular schedule, occasionally this position will demand something different including the potential for working evenings/nights, early mornings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • At least 2 years' experience as a Chef De Cuisine or in a relevant job role.
