The Sommelier is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the beverage program of their assigned area and ensuring that every guest experience is a memorable one. The Sommelier’s role is to provide assistance in guest beverage selection, develop and maintain beverage lists and inventories. This role will also assist in other outlets as needed. This position plays a key role in the Food and Beverage Department. All outlet Sommelier’s are responsible for the fiscal success of both their managing outlet and the overall success of the Food and Beverage Department through teamwork, promotion & retention of associates, as well as creative problem solving.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for all day to day beverage operations
  • Developing beverage knowledge of all associates from line level to Restaurant Manager
  • Meeting all financial goals in accordance to budget
  • Working closely with the Chef de Cuisine/Manager of the outlet to create an atmosphere of teamwork, collaboration and ongoing education.
  • Creation and maintenance of wine and beverage lists, appropriate item costing and associated monthly inventory control and ordering.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely submission of monthly inventory.
  • Set up, attend and/or lead weekly tastings with sales representatives
  • Attend all mandatory meeting within department and resort on weekly, monthly basis.
  • Following up with guest concerns in a timely fashion
  • Assist in creating yearly operating budget

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Court of Master Sommelier Introductory certificate or Court of Master Sommelier Level 1 Certified preferred
  • 1 year experience preferred
  • Must possess an outgoing personality and knowledge of superior customer service training.
  • Must possess superior communication skills and the ability to manage workflow orders while developing positive FOH and BOH relationships.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Candidate must have the ability to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to speak English fluently
  • Candidates must be able to lift/push/pull/carry at least 5-30 lbs.
