WHITEHALL BOROUGH CIVIL SERVICE EXAMINATION

POLICE PATROLMAN

The Whitehall Borough Civil Service Commission invites all qualified persons to apply and participate in a competitive examination for the position of Full-Time Police Patrolman. The written exam will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Harrison Middle School, 129 Windvale Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15236.

General Requirements

Applicants shall be citizens of the United States, at least 21 years of age, and graduated from an accredited high school or have equivalent education acceptable to the commission. A minimum of sixty (60) college credits is preferred but not required. Applicants shall be medically fit for the performance of the duties of a police officer, of good moral character and physical condition, and licensed to operate a motor vehicle in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In addition, successful applicants must be able to meet the following uniform policy of the Whitehall Borough Police Department: Tattoos, branding, or any other type of physical modification are not permitted if visible while the member is wearing the uniform of the day, including short sleeve shirt. Whitehall Borough police officers are provided an excellent salary and generous benefit package to include:

• 2023 starting salary: $82,497.

• 2023 top patrol officer salary: $117,853.

• Paid police academy attendance ($34/hr).

• 12-hour patrol schedule.

• Uniforms and equipment provided by employer.

• Advancement opportunities include criminal investigator, juvenile officer, K9 officer, and participation in regional specialty teams.
